IDG Emily Carnes' Bio
Lion Emily joined the Arlington South Lions Club in January, 2002. While at Arlington South, she has served as President and Secretary. She has also been involved with the James Bland Music Scholarship Competition and has chaired her club’s largest fund raiser, which is their Christmas Tree Lot in South Arlington.
She has served the District as a Zone Chair and held the office of District Chair for several other District Activities in the short time she has been a Lion. She is also a Certified Guiding Lion, a graduate of the Multiple District Regional Lions Leadership Institute; she has completed the Club Excellence Process Training and has volunteered at the Lions Assisted Medical Project and Rural Area Medical Mission in Wise County for the past five years. She has served as District 24-A’s Liaison to the Old Dominion Eye Foundation, and has held a seat on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Lions Hearing Foundation in Charlottesville.
Lion Emily is a member of the Pin Trading Club of Virginia, for which she has served on its Board of Directors and is also a member of the Lions International Trading Pin Club.
For all of her hard work in her Club and District, she has been honored with a Melvin Jones Fellowship, and the Lions of Virginia Foundation Distinguished Humanitarian Award. Most recently, she has been awarded one of Lionism’s top honors; the International President’s Leadership Medal.
District Governor for the 2012-2013.
On a more personal note she is a graduate of North Carolina State University, and is a member of the Executive Committee of the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area. Professionally, she is self-employed as an Administrative Consultant and is associated with C.W. Fields Plumbing, Incorporated where she is the Manager and Co-owner with her Partner in Service, Lion Chuck Fields.
