Lion Dennis has 18 years of dedication and commitment to the ideals of Lions International. As a member of the Warwick Rhode Island Lions club he served in all offices including President. He was responsible for the founding of the Warwick Lions Health Fair which provided diagnostic health screening to over 40,000 people over a ten year period. He also served at the district level as the Vice-President of the Rhode Island Lions Sight Foundation.
He rejoined Lions as a member of the Springfield-Franconia Host Lions Club in 2006. He has served as club president and membership chair. He is responsible for six new Lions joining his club. On the district level he has served as a zone chairperson, committee chairperson and vice-district governor.
Lion Dennis has served internationally as a member of an Eye Service mission to Bolivia in 2007 and El Salvador in 2010 and 2011 providing vision services to over 15,500 people. He has also volunteered at the Remote Area Medical project in Wise VA.
He is a Melvin Jones Fellow and the recipient of the Lions Club International Leadership Award, the MD 24 Council of Governor’s Award for outstanding leadership, service and commitment to Lionism and the Lions of Virginia Humanitarian Award.
He is a graduate of the Regional Lions Leadership Institute in 2008 and the Senior Lions Leadership Institute in 2010.
He served in the US Army in Vietnam and retired from the Rhode Island Air National Guard in 2005.
Lion Dennis is a program manager at US Postal Service headquarters in Washington and lives in Springfield with his wife, Lion Cheryl.  They share 5 children and 7 grand children.
