Lion Mike has served 18 years in Lionism as a member of the Sterling Lions Club. He most recently served as the Treasurer for the Sterling Lions Club and has been on the Board of Directors for more than 15 years. During that period, he has served as President two times, Secretary twice and Treasurer for nine terms. Lion Mike has served as the Leo Advisor for two Leo Clubs in the past ten years. He is  credited with the Chartering of one Leo Clubs. In recognition of his outstanding service to the Sterling Lions Club and to the community, he has been honored with a Melvin Jones Fellow and  been named Lion of the Year on three different occasions.
At the District level, Lion Mike has served as a Region Chairman and twice as a Zone Chairman. He has also served as the chairperson for Public Relations, Campus Club and Lions Opportunities for Youth, Winter Conference, Quest, and Youth Camp. At the Multiple District 24 level as Chairperson for Public Relations. Lion Mike has been awarded the International President’s Distinguished Leadership Medal and is a Graduate of the Multiple District 24 Regional Lions Leadership Institute.
On a personal note, Lion Mike knew of the Lions at a very early age, he had lazy eye blindness and it was a Lions Club that provided him with his first pair of glasses. When he became an adult with a chance to serve his community, he readily associated himself with a Lions Club which gave him the opportunity to be a part of helping others with the gift of sight. This act of kindness by a Lions Club was very instrumental in him becoming a Lion.
Mike is married Lion Betsy for over 27 years; they have two grown daughters and five grandchildren. Mike and Lion Betsy are native Floridians who have been living and working in the Northern Virginia area for almost 25 years where Lion Mike is a Credit Union Specialist with Navy Federal Credit Union.
